Macon native has good scenes in Lifetime movie Saturday night
A lot of up-and-coming actresses say they'd die to get certain roles, but Macon native Hannah Kasulka has taken the strategy to heart.
Early in her career, she was cast in a series of small roles that ended in her death.
"I don't know if I just have that look," Kasulka said Friday from Los Angeles. "I think they love to kill blonde, blue-eyed girls."
Kasulka, a graduate of Westside High School, will be featured on the Lifetime movie "The Cheerleader Murders," which debuts at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Kasulka plays "Morgan" in the movie, which was initially titled "Kill Them All," according to the Internet Movie Database.
Her grandmother, Gail Metcalf of Macon, isn't sure what happens to Kasulka in Saturday's crime thriller, but she's got her fingers crossed.
"I don't know if she's a murder victim in this one or not," Metcalf said Friday, laughing.
Kasulka said her grandmother told her, "I don't know if I can watch you die on TV again."
But one thing is clear: Kasulka's acting career is anything but lifeless.
The daughter of Kristy and Shane Bridges of Macon and John Malone of Barnesville, Kasulka got her first taste of acting at Macon Little Theater. Shane Bridges is a local musician.
While studying business management at Georgia Tech, Kasulka took acting classes in Atlanta. "I submitted my picture and resume to an agency in town and started auditioning," she said.
She moved to Los Angeles after graduation.
Following a one-line role on the TV series "One Tree Hill," she's acted in other series, including "Nashville," "True Blood," "CSI," "The Fosters" and "How to Get Away with Murder."
Her movie credits include 2012's "What to Expect When You're Expecting," as well as the TV movies "Game Time: Tackling the Past" and "Donald Trump's The Art of the Deal."
She's just finished filming a pilot in Chicago for a Fox TV series version of "The Exorcist."
"If we get picked up, it'll be a new series," she said.
Kasulka plays Casey Rance, whom she described as the "wallflower of the family."
"Geena Davis plays my mom. That's cool," she said.
She'll play the lead in "Filthy Preppy Teen$," a new comedy series set to debut April 26 on Fullscreen, a YouTube video streaming service.
