Wildlife Tag Day to be held at Macon-Bibb Tax Commissioner's Office

The Macon-Bibb County Tax Commissioner's Office will be visited Friday by an eagle, owl and tortoise during an event promoting conservation efforts.

The office will host Wildlife Tag Day from noon-2 p.m. at 188 Third St. The free event will include representatives from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, who will talk about how purchasing a wildlife tag benefits the Georgia Wildlife Conservation.

"We want to make people aware of how they can support our wildlife and natural areas around the state by upgrading to a wildlife tag," Interim Tax Commissioner Wade McCord said in a release.

The DNR will have animals at the event, including a bald eagle, a gopher tortoise and a barred owl. Free items such as key chains, buttons and coloring books will be available. T-shirts with the tag designs will be on sale for $8.

Representatives of the Tax Commissioner's Office will also be available to talk about the services provided by the office.
