Young artists invited to enter state fish art contest
Young artists are invited to submit illustrations of a state fish to The Go Fish Education Center for the 18th annual Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art contest.
Students in kindergarten through 12th grade may submit an original illustration of a fish from the official state fish list, located here, to the center in Perry by March 31, according to a release from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Georgia's state fish is the largemouth bass.
A personal, one-page written essay, story or poem based on its behavior, habitat and/or conservation needs is also required for entries made by fourth-graders on up.
A first-place winner is chosen from every state. Judging will take place in April, and winners will be announced by May 10.
All first-place winners will have their work showcased on the Wall of Fame display at the 2016 State-Fish Art mini-Expo in Huntsville, Alabama, in August.
