Perry looking at public transportation
The Perry City Council is expected soon to talk about whether the city should consider starting a public transportation system.
Councilman Willie King brought up the issue previously, and at its Oct. 17 work session the council asked City Manager Lee Gilmour to look into what other cities are doing.
King said he expects Gilmour will give a report soon. King said he doesn’t have a specific plan of how the city might start a public transportation system, but would like for the council to consider any options.
“We’ve got people who need a ride to get to the store,” he said. “We are going to look at it from all angles.”
Last December, the Warner Robins Housing Authority started a public transportation system using grant money, and is now receiving some assistance from the city.
