Georgia defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter was arrested on two misdemeanor charges early Sunday morning, according to an Athens-Clarke County jail record.

Ledbetter, 18, was charged with underage possession/furnishing of alcohol and with possessing false identification. He was booked at 3:11 a.m. and released at 4:13 a.m. on a total of $3,000 bond -- $2,500 for the false identification charge and $500 for underage possession/furnishing of alcohol.

According to the police report, Ledbetter attempted to enter the Silver Dollar Bar at 262 College Ave at around 1:45 a.m. but was turned away by a doorman. An officer overheard Ledbetter tell the doorman that he had another ID and "fumbled through his wallet attempting to retrieve" it.

The officer saw a Georgia driver's license poking out of Ledbetter's wallet and saw that his birth year was 1997. The officer then asked Ledbetter to step away from the entrance before taking his wallet. Upon a search of the wallet, the officer found a photo copy of Ledbetter's ID with the birth year of 1992.

Due to Ledbetter's "stature and inebriation" another unit was called to the scene. As Ledbetter was turned over to the transport unit, "a gentleman by the last name of Gant approached and informed he was Coach Gant and inquired about Ledbetter," the police report states.

This most likely is referring to Georgia program coordinator Bryant Gantt. Gantt's role with the program, as stated in his online bio, is to provide "advice and counsel to student-athletes in areas related to life skills, personal accountability, and personal development; and coordinator and facilitating programming relative to student-athletes."

Ledbetter will likely face a one-game suspension due to university policy on alcohol-related offenses. Georgia opens its season against North Carolina on Sept. 3 at the Georgia Dome.

The Bulldogs are already down a defensive lineman to start the season. Chauncey Rivers is slated to miss the first three games of the season due to a second marijuana arrest.

Ledbetter is in line for a bigger role this season and did receive first-team reps in individual work during Saturday's practice.
