Lofty expectations: Georgia Tech was the most popular pick to win the Coastal Division title during the summer, and the Yellow Jackets get an early start Thursday with a non-conference game against Alcorn State.

Tough opener: North Carolina had a strong finish to the 2014 season and has to be better on defense with the addition of Gene Chizik as the defensive coordinator. The Tar Heels will be tested in their opener as they face South Carolina in Charlotte.

Tougher opener: Mike London is on the hot seat at Virginia, but his case won’t be helped by a road trip to No. 13 UCLA.

Toughest opener: Louisville is a trendy pick for anyone not picking Clemson or Florida State to win the Atlantic Division. But the Cardinals are really going to be tested in their opener: against Auburn at the Georgia Dome.

Who’s the QB?: Florida State hasn’t decided on a quarterback as head coach Jimbo Fisher and his coaching staff decide between Everett Golson and Sean Maguire. That won’t really matter against Texas State in the opener.
