The Atlanta Braves announced Sunday that they traded for right-handed pitcher Arodys Vizcaino and three of the Cubs’ international bonus pool slots (No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4), in exchange for infielder Tommy La Stella and the Braves’ fourth international bonus pool slot.
Vizcaino, 24, was acquired by the Braves in a trade with the New York Yankees in December 2009 and made his Major League debut for Atlanta in August 2011. The right-hander pitched in 17 games for Atlanta in 2011 but then underwent “Tommy John” surgery on his right elbow in March 2012. He was traded to the Cubs in July 2012 and missed two seasons (2012-13) after his elbow surgery.
La Stella, 25, made his major league debut for the Braves in 2014, playing in 93 games and posting a .251 batting average with one home run and 31 RBI.
