Former Georgia College player hired at Charleston

Earl Grant, a former Georgia College basketball player, was named as the head coach at College of Charleston the school announced Tuesday.

Grant, 37, played for two seasons (1998-99 and 1999-2000), leading the Bobcats to two trips to the NCAA Division II tournament, including an appearance in the 2000 Elite Eight.

He has been an assistant coach at Clemson the past four seasons after three seasons as an assistant at Wichita State and three at Winthrop. Grant is a native of North Charleston.
