FVSU fires basketball coach

Fort Valley State athletics director Percy Caldwell announced Monday that John Douglas has been fired as the school's men's head basketball coach.

Douglas last two seasons as FVSU's head coach. He had a 17-40 overall record and a 15-33 SIAC record (45% winning record).

The Wildcats finished 11th in the 13-team SIAC this season and were eliminated in the first round of the conference tournament in both years.

“After an assessment of the past two years of the men’s basketball program, it has become patently clear that we must take our program in a different direction," Caldwell said. "We are grateful to Coach Douglas for the service he has provided and wish him success in his future endeavors."
