Roberto Arteaga took advantage of a mistake by Furman’s Max Fisher, intercepting a pass and scoring the only goal Tuesday night in Mercer’s 1-0 win over the Paladins.

The win gives Mercer (12-5, 7-2 Southern Conference) a conference-best 21 points, one point ahead of East Tennessee State, which beat UNC Greensboro on Tuesday. The Bears and Bucs will face off at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Bear Field with the regular-season conference title on the line.

Saturday’s winner will claim the regular-season crown, and Mercer also would win the title with a tie.
