Magic snap skid, earn 118-86 win against Grizzlies

The Orlando Magic continue to struggle shooting from long range. Luckily, they didn't have the same problem from anywhere else – or any trouble converting turnovers into points.

Nikola Vucevic scored a game-high 23 points while Jonathan Isaac had 22 points and Evan Fournier finished with 19 points as the Magic pulled away in the second half to beat the Memphis Grizzlies, 118-86, on Friday night at Amway Center to end a four-game losing streak.

The Magic started 1 of 13 from the 3-point line before going 6 of 15 the rest of the way. They were outscored 33-21 from long range, but it didn't matter on this night.

With just under three minutes to play, the Magic were 34 of 60 from the field on 2-point shots and 23 of 27 from the free-throw line. They wound up with a season-high point total, eclipsing the 100-point mark for the second straight game.

Before the game, Magic coach Steve Clifford talked about getting effort or energy points from offensive rebounds or by scoring off turnovers. He got plenty of both.

The Magic turned 18 Memphis turnovers into 22 points and finished with 18 second-chance points off 11 offensive rebounds.

Vucevic also recorded 16 rebounds for his sixth double-double and his third 20-point, 10-rebound game of the season.

Aaron Gordon has 17 points and D.J. Augustin delivered 13 points for the Magic, who opened a five-game homestand.

The Magic pulled away with a 24-4 run over a 7:52 stretch from late in the third quarter into the fourth quarter. Their biggest lead reached 35 points.

The Magic bottled up Grizzlies rookie point guard Ja Morant, holding him to eight points – 12 under his season average. He had seven assists but also committed six turnovers.

The Magic face the Indiana Pacers at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Amway Center. The game will air on Fox Sports Florida.
