The Holy Innocents girls basketball team jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back Saturday, rolling to an 80-49 victory over Putnam County in the GHSA Class AA Tournament semifinals at Georgia College.
A 12-0 run midway through the first quarter was all Holy Innocents needed to turn the game into a runaway.
The Bears will face Wesleyan, a 78-48 winner over Greater Atlanta Christian, at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Macon Coliseum for the Class AA championship.
Holy Innocents (26-5) lost two starters in the second quarter, as Khayla Pointer and Shai Blanding collided. Both had to be helped off the floor. Kaila Hubbard scored 25 points to pace Holy Innocents. Rykia Pennamon had 16 for Putnam County (24-5).
