Washington County quarterback/defensive back AJ Gray has been named the Gatorade Georgia Football Player of the Year, the company announced Thursday in a release.
Gray, a 6-foot-2, 208-pound senior, has thrown for 1,563 yards and 21 touchdowns. He has also run for 1,927 yards and 34 touchdowns.
Defensively, Gray has 57 tackles and nine interceptions, including four interception returns for touchdowns.
The award puts Gray, a Georgia Tech commit with a 3.5 GPA, in contention for the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year award, which will be announced later this month.
