How I voted Week 1

I'm not a fan of preseason polls.

You have to balance what a team did one year ago and gauge how it will meet its expectations in the upcoming season. Making matters more difficult in 2012: the GHSA moves to six classifications, meaning some teams are moving up to a higher class (i.e. Buford up to Class AAA with Peach County and Carver-Columbus). How will a school react when playing against some larger schools?

The other big question is how to deal with Class A. The Georgia Sportswriters Association decided to include the public and private schools in the same Class A poll since they will play in the same region during the regular season. We'll have to make a decision later on what to do with Class A schools in our postseason poll.

Despite my trepidation, this is how I voted in the preseason poll.
