Class A girls: Wesleyan cruises to third state title in four years

The showdown between Wesleyan and Savannah Country Day turned out to be a huge mismatch. Wesleyan used a huge first quarter to romp to its sixth state title Saturday, dominating the Hornets 71-31 in the GHSA Class A girls championship game at the Macon Coliseum.

The Wolves led 26-5 at the end of the first quarter and didn’t allow the Hornets to reach double-digits until the second half.

Anne Marie Armstrong led Wesleyan with 18 points. Melissa Burkhamer led Savannah County Day with 14.
