State football playoff games scheduled for Friday afternoon and evening — including the Warner Robins game again Rome — have been canceled due to inclement weather, the Georgia High School Association announced.
Peach County was playing its Class 3A match, which began at 1 p.m. at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta when the GHSA canceled the rest of Friday’s schedule.
Snow began falling in Atlanta early Friday afternoon, and the GHSA said it made its decision in consultation with the National Weather Service and stadium officials.
Warner Robins was scheduled to play for the Class 5A championship title at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Lee County was scheduled to face Coffee County in the Class 6A game at 8 p.m.
The games will be rescheduled for next weekend, with details to come later, the association said.
The GHSA said the Class A public school championship set for 10 a.m. Saturday also has been canceled, but other Saturday games will go on as scheduled.
