Rutland High School students and faculty gave its girls softball team quite a send off Thursday.
The school rallied as the team left the south Bibb County school at about 9 a.m. Thursday, bound for the GHSA state championship.
They headed straight to the Columbus Softball Complex where they played Cahoun at noon.
Rutland was shut out 8-0, but play Cook County Friday at noon to keep their hopes alive of winning the championship.
