ATHENS -- Georgia will begin the 2015 season ranked No. 9 in the Amway Coaches Poll.
The ninth-place slot is where the Bulldogs ended last year's 10-3 campaign. Georgia is the top-ranked team from the SEC East and the third-highest in the conference. Five of Georgia's opponents are ranked in the preseason poll, with the first one being Alabama in Week 5.
The SEC placed a total of eight teams in the coaches poll, with Alabama (No. 3), Auburn (No. 7), Georgia (No. 9), LSU (No. 13), Ole Miss (No. 15), Arkansas (No. 20), Missouri (No. 23) and Tennessee (No. 25) all getting in.
Last season's College Football Playoff champion Ohio State enters the season ranked No. 1 with TCU slotted at No. 2. TCU's placement set a school record for highest preseason ranking in the modern era. Behind Alabama at No. 3 are No. 4 Baylor and No. 5 Oregon. The Buckeyes received 62 of the 64 possible first-place votes. Both TCU and Alabama each received a first-place vote.
