One of the state's top defensive ends chose an SEC East rival over Georgia on Wednesday.
Jordan Smith, a defensive end out of Lithonia High School, chose South Carolina over Georgia at a press conference held at his school on Wednesday. Smith was also considering Florida, Tennessee and Clemson.
Smith is considered a four-star recruit by both Scout.com and 247sports.com and a three-star player by Rivals.com. Georgia was recruiting him to play outside linebacker, though his preference was at defensive end.
