Cardiello to transfer from Georgia football program

Georgia sophomore offensive lineman Josh Cardiello will transfer to Chattanooga, head coach Mark Richt announced Friday.

“Josh and I have discussed his situation,” Richt said in a release. “He likes Georgia but felt it would be in his best interest to transfer in order to have a better opportunity for playing time. I certainly understand and wish him nothing but the best.”

Cardiello, a graduate of Buford, redshirted in 2013 and played in one game in 2014.

“I want to thank Coach Richt for everything that he’s done for me,” Cardiello said. “I feel that this is the best situation for me to excel in all aspects of athletics and academics. I wish nothing but the best to everyone at UGA and hope they have a great season.”
