The losing streak for the Mercer men’s basketball team reached six games with a 91-82 defeat Thursday at VMI.
The Bears drop to 18-12 overall and 8-9 in Southern Conference play, while VMI improves to 8-19 and 3-13 in the conference.
Mercer, which is now seventh in the conference standings, travels to UNC Greensboro on Sunday. UNC Greensboro is 9-8 and tied for fifth in the conference standings. The top six teams avoid the first round of the conference tournament next week in Asheville, North Carolina.
The Bears had six players in double figures, led by Phillip Leonard with 16 points. Jordan Strawberry had 15, while Stephon Jelks added 14, followed by Ethan Stair and Lawrence Brown with 11 and Demetre Rivers with 10.
