Trey Rule shot a one-under 215 in 54 holes to lead Mercer to its first ever A-Sun men's golf tournament title.
The Bears shot 293 in the final round on Tuesday at Chateau Elan, and Rule became the third medalist from Mercer in the 36 years of the conference tournament. Rule is Mercer' first medalist since 1993.
The Bears finished fifth last year, fourth in 2011, and third in 2009.
Senior James Beale was among four tied for second.
The Bears now await the regional announcement on May 5 with the locations and berths for the NCAA Regionals May 15-17.
From court to mound
As of 75 minutes - roughly - before scheduled, rain is in the area, but hopefully it's not enough to delay what should be entertaining.
Six of Mercer's seven men's basketball seniors will throw out first pitches tonight before Mercer hosts Georgia Tech. Only Langston Hall, because of a previous commitment, won't be trying to find the strike zone.
And then - drum roll - Kevin Canevari will shake things up with his 2,419th performance of the Nae Nae since the national debut after the Bears beat Duke.
Since nobody can ever get enough, don't forget about his visit to ESPN. It never gets old.
