Greetings from a chilly Alexander Memorial Coliseum, where I'm covering what has turned into a good, close game between Tech and Virginia.
Yes, I am back here inside the TechTalk, giving you all kinds of information on Georgia Tech athletics. I've been pretty lax here with the blog lately (I'm sure it's very easy to tell), but I am back on here and I'll be back with a vengeance.
More than any other reason, I wanted to post something right now so you guys out there would all know that I am alive, and that I am definitely still covering Georgia Tech. For a while there, between finals and holiday breaks, there was very little to report in the blog that you likely hadn't already seen somewhere else on the site. But now that Bowl Week is upon us, the TechTalk is back in full force, and I'll be sharing all kinds of tidbits as the week progresses. I'm hoping enough of you all haven't given up on the blog; I definitely have some great ideas for making the blog really click this week.
With that said, check back often throughout the week, as I plan to update the blog about two times each day.
Right now, I want to ask a little question to the masses:
"What color uniforms should Georgia Tech wear for its bowl against LSU?"
Just place your thoughts in the Comments box underneath this post.
Of course, the Yellow Jackets have been wearing their white tops all season for home and road games. Ironically, the Jackets and Tigers are the only two teams in the nation to adopt the stance of wearing white jerseys at home. While LSU will play the role of visitor for the Chick-fil-A Bowl, the team has already decided to don its white jerseys Wednesday night.
Today, while speaking in an Atlanta hotel in front of reporters such as myself, Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson refused to specify what color the Yellow Jackets will end up wearing. Here's how the dialogue of his conversation went with one reporter:
"Oh, we're going to have (a color)," Johnson said, laughing.
"What color? Blue or gold?" he was pressed.
"We'll let that be a surprise," Johnson said, sneaking a coy smile.
(This reminds me, check out chick-fil-abowl.com where you can watch live web casts of the coaches' and players' press conferences each day leading up to the bowl. There is also archived material from these press conferences including pictures. I asked a couple of questions today, so listen out for my voice, and let me know if you can pick it out)
So what color would you like to see? Without the option of potentially wearing white, it looks as if the Yellow Jackets for the first time this season will be wearing Blue tops or Gold tops. The gold unis were purchased this year along with the white ones they've worn all year, as part of a new agreement with athletic gear supplier Russell Athletic. The blue unis were last worn in the 2006 ACC Championship, and would not have been ordered at any point this season; they were already on the shelves.
Here's a little something to help you decide:
