Georgia Tech freshmen Daniel Miller and Nate Hicks will be sidelined for the next several days, according to a team spokesman.
Miller has contracted mono and is expected to miss the next three weeks while he recuperates. Hicks, a 6-foot-10 post player from Florida, will be sidelined one to two weeks after suffering a concussion.
The Yellow Jackets just began official workouts last Friday.
The season unofficially begins in two weeks on Nov. 5, when they host neighboring Clark Atlanta in an exhibition at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. A week later, the real games start with a home game against Charleston Southern and then a road contest three days later at Kennesaw State.
Miller was expected to begin the season as one of the Yellow Jackets' primary post players, starting alongside Hancock County native Kammeon Holsey at forward. Hicks was a young talent who had been impressing coaches in what they had seen of him in individual workouts.
Hicks is a true freshman. Miller redshirted last season.
For those who want a sneak peak at the new-look Jackets, head over to Alexander Memorial Coliseum this Friday at 6:30 p.m. for Hoopfest, a Midnight Madness sort of celebration where dunk contests and the like are to take place.
