OK, that is probably the only time you'll see me shorten Northwestern to NWestern. Folks in Evanston hate that shortening. As they also hate it when it's shortened to NW or NWU. Quite simply, Northwesterners love their school to be called NU (there are chants derived from the fight song that say "GO U, NU!" So there you have it, NU).
Now that we've got that formality out of the way, the Yellow Jackets' basketball team will be heading to Evanston, Ill. on Nov. 30 as they take part in yet another ACC/Big 10 Challenge.
The game will have a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Wildcats' Welsh-Ryan Arena, which is adjacent to their football stadium, Ryan Field (Lots of Ryans around there, as you can tell). Action will also be televised on ESPN2.
Last season, the Big Ten won its first Challenge, going 6-5 over ACC schools. The Yellow Jackets, who earned a trip to the NCAA tournament in 2009-10, did not compete.
