Early voting is now open in Georgia. Check your registration, see where to vote in Macon.

Early voting officially opened across Georgia Tuesday.

Early voting allows people to vote in-person before Election Day. The period runs until Nov. 1, the Friday before Election Day.

This year, Georgia voters are expected to play an especially important role in deciding the presidential race. Polls currently show Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump in a dead heat.

Voters in Macon will also consider three statewide ballot measures, several state legislature races and two races in the House of Representatives.

How can I vote early?

While hours may vary by county, early voting in Bibb county is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, according to the county elections board.

Early voting locations include the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections Office, the Elaine Lucas Senior Center, the Theron Ussery Community Center and the Macon Mall annex. Voters over 75 or who have disabilities should vote at the mall.

Saturday voting will also be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26. Sunday voting is available on Oct. 27 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

What about absentee voting?

If you don’t want to vote in-person, Georgia offers no-excuse absentee voting.

Voters interested in an absentee ballot can request one online. The window to request a ballot opened on Oct. 7 and continues through Oct. 25.

Voters using absentee ballots may mail them to their local elections office or return them to a dropbox. Ballots must be returned by Nov. 5. Mailing addresses and dropbox locations can be found on the My Voter page.
