Early voting began in Bibb County Tuesday morning for runoffs in the mayor’s race and a state Senate seat.
In the mayor’s race, incumbent Robert Reichert faces former Mayor C. Jack Ellis. In the District 26 state Senate race, former state Rep. David Lucas faces former Macon City Council President Miriam Paris.
Only about 37 percent of Macon’s 46,740 registered voters cast ballots in the city’s mayoral primary.
Registered voters who did not vote in the primary can still vote in the runoff, according to the Board of Elections office.
The early voting period ends Friday, Aug. 12. The runoff is Aug. 16.
The Board of Elections office is located at 2445 Pio Nono Ave. It is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
