The campaign of Georgia attorney general candidate Ken Hodges issued a statement Thursday admitting that Bibb County Sheriff Jerry Modena does not endorse Hodges.
“We apologize to Sheriff Modena for the error on our Web site. It was a simple clerical mistake and his name was never intended to be on the list,” said Shannon Marietta, Hodges’ campaign manager.
Hodges’ opponent, Rob Teilhet, issued a news release Wednesday saying Modena supports Teilhet, not Hodges. Modena’s name was listed on Hodges’ campaign Web site Wednesday in a list of sheriffs endorsing Hodges.
The release also said Hodges has claimed an endorsement by Andrew Young, a former U.N. ambassador and Atlanta mayor, although Young has told the media he has donated money to Teilhet and has not endorsed Hodges.
Hodges’ campaign maintains Young has endorsed Hodges, Marietta said in an e-mailed statement.
