Macon City Council will vote Tuesday night whether to support the nomination of Beverly Blake to the council seat vacated by Erick Erickson in February. Blake, the Macon program director of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, was nominated by Ward V Councilwomen Nancy White and Lauren Benedict.
At Monday’s City Council Ordinance and Resolutions Committee meeting, Council President Pro Tem James Timley asked for White and Benedict to provide Blake’s résumé.
The council also is scheduled to vote Tuesday on whether to authorize the city to enter a partnership with Mercer University to use a Georgia Department of Transportation grant of $50,000 to landscape the area at Interstate 75 and Mercer University Drive. Also on the agenda is Mayor Robert Reichert’s urban redevelopment plan.
