The Bibb County Commission decided Tuesday to set up meetings with city officials about several issues, including Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority funding, a new penny sales tax and a tax equity study, which would assist in the development of a new service delivery strategy.
These meetings should occur in “manageable groups,” Commission Chairman Sam Hart said, possibly including department heads. Some of the issues, such as transit authority funding, need to be discussed as soon as possible, he said.
The transit authority recently met with Hart, the mayor and some other elected officials about a need for at least $1.5 million in funding to finish out this fiscal year, which ends June 30.
