Law enforcement officials in Macon and Bibb County say they are prepared to handle any unusual crowds, traffic-related situations and possible safety hazards caused by activities on Election Day.
“We haven’t heard of anything to raise our concerns. But we’ve met and are building a strategy for patrolling the polls in the area,” said Lt. George Meadows of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. “There will be a recognizable presence in the areas of polling facilities and a plan of action in place in the unlikely event that we have an incident.”
Macon police Lt. Eric Walker said no special patrols or squads will be in place in the city but officers will be ready to respond to “an overshowing should one arise.”
