A maintenance commander at Kadena Air Base in Japan will be the next installation commander at Robins Air Force Base.
Col. Jeffrey King, commander of the 18th Maintenance Group at Kadena, will succeed Col. Chris Hill as commander of the 78th Air Base Wing, Robins spokesman Roland Leach said Wednesday.
At date for the change of command has not been set but traditionally it would happen around June. The installation commander usually serves two years and Hill started in June, 2013.
King will come to Robins with the perspective of having been a significant customer. Robins does heavy maintenance and program management of the F-15 fighter jet, and the 18th Wing at Kadena is home to 54 F-15s.
