About two dozen Bibb County school district employees will soon receive some back pay.
School board members voted unanimously Thursday night to authorize the superintendent to allocate up to $125,000 from the 2014-2015 budget to compensate certain employees who were paid less than they should have been.
A couple of years ago, the district commissioned a group to come up with a comprehensive salary review study. That study classified some employees at a lower pay grade than it should have.
After the release of the study, those employees had the opportunity to appeal to a review committee from November of last year to the end of January.
The review committee found that, indeed, some employees were paid less than they should have been paid.
For those employees, the district will pay them retroactively back to July 1, 2014.
Last year, the board approved $1.3 million to bring classified employees -- such as secretaries, bus drivers and custodial staff -- in line with their counterparts in Chatham and Muscogee counties
