Georgia public school students in grades 6-12 can now register for courses through the state’s online Georgia Virtual School, according to a news release.
Students can sign up to take courses for the summer and fall 2011 semesters, as well as the spring 2012 semester.
Private and home-school students also will be able to sign up through a wait-listed registration process.
High school students can choose from 22 Advanced Placement courses, six foreign languages and other college prep courses. For 6th-, 7th- and 8th-grade students, summer remediation courses are available in language arts, science and math.

Courses offered through Georgia Virtual School meet state standards and are taught by Georgia-certified teachers.
First offered in 2005, the online courses allow students to have access to more subjects than schools, especially rural ones, may be able to provide, officials said.
