Macon County man seeks injunction against board of education

A Macon County man has filed a petition asking a judge to grant an administrative injunction concerning the Macon County Board of Education.

James W. Edmonds originally filed the petition in Macon County Superior Court this month, but the case was transferred to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia this week.

Edmonds argues that the school board failed to make arrangements to replace board member Allen Head, who died in 2009, according to the petition.

Without having a representative for Head’s district, the board “entered into a substantial renewed contract” for an employee. The renewal also denied residents of Head’s district rights afforded by the federal constitution, he argued in the petition.

Messages left for Edmonds and an Atlanta attorney representing the school board were not returned Thursday.
