GBI investigating Dodge photo message circulating among students

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a suggestive photo that has circulated via text message among Dodge County students.

A “pornographic photo” has been sent to students and others within the county along with a text message suggesting it is a Dodge County school official, Superintendent Darrel May said.

Its existence was brought to May’s attention after a school board member received it Sunday night. May said he saw the photo Monday.

School officials reported the photo to Eastman police Tuesday morning, who in turn contacted the GBI, May said.

For now, the GBI is investigating the origin of the photo, and said it is possible the photo is not actually of the school official in question, said Todd Lowery, assistant special agent in charge at the GBI’s Eastman office.

May also said Gary Walker, director of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s ethics division, also has been notified about the investigation.
