FVSU to rename agriculture college

Fort Valley State University will rename its College of Agriculture to the College of Agriculture, Home Economics and Allied Programs on Mach 23 at the Pettigrew Center, school officials said Monday.

Officials are taking the measure to improve the image of the college to future students by highlighting its programs in fields such as agriculture and family and consumer sciences, as well as its technology and research, said Mark Latimore Jr., interim dean for the College of Agriculture.

About 500 students are enrolled in the college, which offers 11 undergraduate programs, including infant and child development and veterinary technology, as well as two graduate programs.
