Students and school officials celebrated a partnership Friday between Fort Valley State University and Gordon College that began earlier this year.
Held at Fort Valley State University, Gordon College Day included talks by the president of Gordon College and Student Government Association presidents of both schools over breakfast, as well as a scavenger hunt and a picnic.
The program, known as GC@FVSU, allows 137 students from Gordon College in Barnesville to take core classes on Fort Valley’s campus. After earning 30 credit hours from Gordon College, the students in the program can transfer to a four-year degree program, including those at Fort Valley State. The partnership began in spring 2009, program coordinator Tonya Moore said.
“The beauty of the program is that they can meet faculty and find out more about their majors and what they offer,” Moore said.
