Warner Robins police urge motorists to use caution as schools resume for the fall

WARNER ROBINS — As students return to school across Middle Georgia, police are urging motorist to be careful.“Watch out for the children walking,” Warner Robins police Maj. John Wagner said. “Watch out for school buses.”Houston County students return to school Tuesday, when all school zones will be back in effect.

In addition to graduated fines based on miles per hour over the speed limit, speeding in a school zone carries an additional $100 minimum fine in Warner Robins, Wagner said.

Also, parents are reminded to buckle up children, and motorists are also cautioned to watch for young drivers headed for high school, Wagner noted.

The first day of school varies across Middle Georgia. Crawford County students returned Friday, while the first day of school for Bibb County students is Thursday. Peach County students return Tuesday. Monroe County students start back Friday.
