Georgia College welcomes its first provost

Georgia College & State University welcomed its first provost and vice president for academic affairs this month, with Sandra Jordan assuming the role, the school announced Wednesday.

Jordan, who began her duties July 1, will serve as Georgia College’s chief academic officer, with “broad delegated responsibility for the overall excellence and vitality of the university’s academic life and programs,” according to a news release.

She will oversee the university’s Academic Affairs Division, as well as the library, instructional and informational technology, off-site centers and programs, continuing education, sponsored research and enrollment management, the release states.

Jordan comes to Georgia College from Mississippi University for Women, where she served in a similar role.
