Covenant Academy welcomes new headmaster

Covenant Academy welcomed its new headmaster William Walters into its school family Monday.

The private Christian school in Bibb County had been without a permanent headmaster since this past September.

Walters, from Texas, has 28 years of educational administration and teaching experience.

He has served as Head of School at First Baptist Academy in Dallas, Texas, since 2004 and previously served at a private Christian school in Houston, Texas, prior to that his resume shows.

Thirty-eight candidates applied for the Covenant headmaster position, according to school officials.

“His tremendous administration experience and dedication to Christian education” stood out among Covenant’s board of trustees for the job, said Board of Trustees Chair Rick Brown.

Walters has his doctorate in educational administration from Texas A&M University.

The Ayers Road school, which serves 458 students in pre-K through 11th grade will add a senior class this fall.
