First Presbyterian Day School’s student newspaper, The Saga, received a rating of Superior at the Georgia Scholastic Press Association’s awards ceremony held Friday at The Classic Center in Athens, according to a school news release.
Two FPD students’ work also received “All-Georgia” recognition given to the top entry in each category regardless of school classification.
Junior Jenni Seale won All-Georgia in both the Feature Profile and Columns categories, while sophomore Adriana Figueroa was named All-Georgia in the Illustration category.
Seale also received ratings of Superior in the Feature and Sports News categories.
Also receiving ratings of Superior were junior Rebekah Rabun for News Story and twice in Sports Features and junior Jake Adams in the Critical Review category.
More than 50 schools and 1,200 entries were entered in the competition. The ceremony was attended by nearly 500 people.
The Saga is produced about once a month by the five-person staff of editor Lindsey Justice, Seale, Rabun, Adams and sophomore Victoria Vanhuss. Figueroa and sophomore Meredith Pierce are contributors.
