The Bibb County school system has been awarded a $386,000 grant to train more teachers in math and science. The grant, which starts this year, with probable funding next school year, is from the Georgia Department of Education.
It will allow 150 teachers of grades three through five, seventh-grade science and high school math to take about 60 hours of training this summer from representatives of Macon State College and Wesleyan College.
Bibb County school improvement specialists Lynn Janes and Jamie Akin wrote the grant.
“This is wonderful for our faculty,” said board member Susan Sipe.
