The interim dean of Mercer University’s School of Medicine has been tapped to take on the position permanently, the university announced Friday.
Dr. William F. Bina III has been serving as interim dean of the school since 2008, following the retirement of Dr. Martin Dalton. The new appointment is effective immediately.
“As interim dean, (Bina) demonstrated strong leadership during a challenging period, including the opening of a new four-year campus in Savannah,” Provost Wallace Daniel said in a news release.
Bina, who has been at Mercer since 1998, was selected following an 11-month national search.
“I eagerly look forward to continuing (the school’s) success by working with an outstanding team of faculty, staff, alumni and community leaders to ensure that our students receive top-quality training to launch their careers into 21st century medicine,” Bina said in a news release.
