Central High mock trial team gets 2nd

Central High School’s mock trial team came close to winning the state competition Sunday but was defeated by Atlanta’s Grady High School in the final rounds of the Georgia Mock Trial Competition held in Lawrenceville.

In the competition, students acting as plaintiff and defense attorneys present a fictitious civil case with witnesses, and must earn the most points from a panel of judges.

Grady now moves on to the national competition May 6-10 in Atlanta, but Central may also get a shot at nationals.

Because Georgia is the host state, Central may get to participate in nationals if an odd number of teams register, according to a news release from state mock trial organizers.
