Macon's Wesleyan College receives $2 million endowment

Macon’s Wesleyan College has received a $2 million gift to add to its endowment fund.

Debbie Smith, vice president of institutional advancement, said the $2 million was a payment by two anonymous donors who pledged $15 million to the school in 2001.

“Their pledge was contingent on Wesleyan raising $30 million more from other sources for the endowment and the new Munroe Science Center (opened in 2007),” Smith said.

“We raised the $30 million, so they have been giving toward their commitment, and this payment almost completes their pledge to us. We are delighted to have such a generous donation, especially in this trying economy,” she said.
