Georgia College & State University President Dorothy Leland said Monday that she will remain at the college.
Leland recently visited the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., and she had discussions with Pacific’s Board of Regents about its presidential position. But she announced Monday that she is staying in Milledgeville.
“I appreciate the understanding and support I received from the Georgia College community during my consideration of an opportunity in my native state of California,” Leland said in a statement. “After much consideration, I feel my focus needs to be on ensuring the continued progress of Georgia College as it faces the challenges of even deeper budget cuts and leadership transitions in several key areas.”Leland became president of Georgia College & State University on Jan. 1, 2004.
