The Bibb County school board voted in committee meeting Thursday to hire Andrea Moore as director of special programs. Moore has worked for the Georgia Department of Education since 2004. Her latest role was working in the parent outreach division.
Moore replaces Val Cordy, who retired from the position last fall. As the director of special programs, Moore will be charged with overseeing Title I schools and English as a second language programs. The position is federally funded.
“This is a position in the district that must be filled even in a time of critical (financial) uncertainty,” Superintendent Sharon Patterson said.
