Pedestrians struck at Georgia College

A Georgia College & State University employee suffered injuries Thursday when he was struck by a car while walking in a crosswalk on campus.

Campus police Sgt. Brian English said Zach Kincaid, associate director of communications at the Milledgeville college, was struck by a blue Lincoln Town Car at about 8:30 a.m. on Hancock Street near the Maxwell Student Union.

The driver of the vehicle was making a left turn onto Hancock Street from Clarke Street when she hit Kincaid and brushed another pedestrian, university communications specialist Judy Bailey, said English.

Kincaid was transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia where he reportedly received treatment for a broken collar bone, English said. Bailey was not harmed in the incident, he said. English said charges are not pending against the driver, who was in town from McDonough.

“We know that she did have the green light,” he said. “But we can’t tell on camera if the protective turn was on or not ... who had the right of way.”

Police have closed their investigation of the vehicle accident, English said.
