The 29 Southwest Laurens Elementary School students who were taken to the hospital Friday after their school bus was hit by a tractor-trailer were treated with minor injures and released.
The students were taken to Fairview Park emergency room. The accident occurred on Telfair Street in Dublin at about 11 a.m. Friday when the tractor-trailer hit the bus from behind.
Laurens County schools Superintendent Jerry Hatcher said some students complained of back and neck pain, but suffered no serious injury in the wreck. Hatcher said the Southwest Laurens students were coming back from a field trip. They watched a school play at a neighboring school.
“They are all visibly upset,” Hatcher said. “Anytime there is a bus wreck and it involves an 18-wheeler, and you get to the hospital and it’s minor injuries, is a good thing.”
